Be The Light: 5 Practical Ways To Share God’s Love

God’s love for His creation is a powerful force. It is beyond measure and not fully comprehendible to us. God’s love is the light in our own lives, that shines even through the darkest of moments. Once we have personally felt God’s light within our own darkness, it should become so important to us that it makes us go outside of our comfort zones to share His love with others. This week we are coving five practical ways to share God’s love with others this summer, and be able to share God’s light in this world. So if you have found yourself wanting to talk about God’s love, but not knowing how, then continue on, because I will be sharing a few ideas for us to start applying in our lives TODAY!!!

Bible Verse: Matthew 28:19-20 - “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

  1. Post-It Note Bible Verses

    • Have you ever thought about throwing a post-it note pad and pen into your purse or bag? You can use them to simply write out a Bible verse here and there throughout the day, and leave a few at the places you go to during the day. Think about writing out a Bible verse, and leaving the post-it note in the store or at work. At some point someone will find it and think of God. You could be planting the seed of God in others lives, by simply leaving Bible verses behind as you go about your day. That shouldn’t make you feel uncomfortable about sharing God’s Word, it’s an easy way to teach of God’s love!

  2. Compliments That Point Back To God

    • If you are like me, it makes you feel good when someone points out something that you are doing and compliments you about it. But what if we took a simple compliment, and turned it into a God centered one? What if we turned “wow you cooked a good meal. Thank you!” into “Wow, God sure gave you the talent to make great meals. Thank you!” These compliments are to be able to say the same thing that you were already genuinely going to tell someone else, but give God the glory for it. It teaches them about God’s love, and also still makes them feel good about what they are doing. This one might take a little thought, but the more you try this one, the easier it gets!

  3. Ask For Prayer Requests

    • Have you even found yourself in need of prayers? Doesn’t it make you feel so comforted to know that others are praying for you, even if the outcome of the situation isn’t very good, the prayers still brought you comfort. So what if you kept a note on your phone, or a notebook in your bag, and started asking others for prayer requests? Think about asking those who you haven’t talked to about God with, for some prayer request. This is a very simple way to open the door for even deeper spiritual conversations. The notes about the prayer requests can also be uses to help yourself remember what to talk to the people about the next time you see them.

  4. Set A Goal For Spiritual Conversations

    • Have you ever thought about how many Spiritual conversations you have with non-Christians? We don’t often think about how often we actually talk about God with others, but what if we started setting small goals for ourselves? What if we set a goal of having three Spiritual conversations (or more) with non-Christians each week? Then we would have more courage to do so to complete our goals. Then as that goal gets easy you can always challenge yourself by increasing the number of conversations. This is a great way to help you remember to share about God with others.

  5. Write A Letter

    • Letters are starting to become more and more rare these days. Every time that I have been to the mailbox recently it’s either bills or junk mail. But what if you started intentionally writing letters to others who are not Christians about God’s love. A letter is a great way to start sharing God’s love with others, because you can plan out what you want to say, and reword it as many times as you need to before you send it. Wouldn’t it be great to see a handwritten or typed letter from a friend about how much God loves them. I know that I would have appreciated that?

Conclusion:

There is no reason for us who have experienced God’s light, to be hiding it from others. God commands each and every one of us to be sharing God’s good news with others. We are to each be making disciples of those who God places in our lives. We can’t just rely on the “preachers and elders” to be the only ones sharing God’s good news with others to save each of our congregations. That attitude will lead to our congregations slowly dying. Bring others to Christ is something that each of us should be doing BECAUSE we are grateful for what Christ has done for our own lives. When we fall in love with God, then that love will start to overflow. All it takes is a few simple starter ideas for each of us to start having the courage to being able to share about God’s love with others.
