6 Ways The World Tries To Keep Us Searching
The world has a way with keeping us searching for the next BIG thing. It keeps us in a constant state of not feeling complete, fulfilled, or having enough in life. We are constantly chasing after something in our lives. We will never find enough from the world, so that is why we must turn our hearts to only seeking after God. He is the only one who can truly satisfy our search for true fulfillment. So this week we will look at 6 of the ways that the world tries to keep us searching for more.
The Search For Perfection
Ephesians 2:8-9 - “for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Messiah Yeshua for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.”
The Search For Significance
James 4:10 - “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.”
The Search For Happiness
Matthew 6:33 - “But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.”
The Search For Love
John 15:13 - “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”
The Search For Control
Proverbs 3:5-6 - “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
The Search For Self-Care
Philippians 2:3-4 - “doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself; each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.”
Conclusion:
So today, we are called to make a choice. We can either chance the wind, or rest in the living water. Will we continue to keep searching in the world? Or will we turn our hearts to God? Only God can bring true fulfillment, happiness, love, peace, and rest.
