5 Lies Our Feelings Tell Us In Our Faith

There are so many lies within the world right now. The devil loves to use the trick of misleading us to think falsely. Do we often realize that those lies can creep into our own thinking and emotions. The devil will use his trickiest tricks to mislead us away from following God. So this week we will be covering 5 of the lies that the devil uses to make our feelings affect our faith in God.

  1. Our Feelings Can Cause Us To Doubt God’s Faithfulness

    • Psalm 55:22 - “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”

    • Ideas For Not Doubting:

      • Practice A Grateful Heart By Keeping Track Of All Your Blessings

  2. Our Feelings Can Cause Us To Be Self-Centered

    • Matthew 16:24 - “Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”

    • Ideas For Not Being Self-Centered:

  3. Our Feelings Can Cause Us Fear Or Anxiety

    • Matthew 6:34 - ““Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

    • Ideas For Not Having Fear/Anxiety:

      • Trust In God More Than In Ourselves Through Praying About Our Fears

      • Replace All Negative Thoughts With Positive God Centered Ones (wear a bracelet to remind yourself)

      • Read/Quote Scripture When Emotions Turn Into Fear

  4. Our Feelings Can Lead To Comparison

    • 2 Corinthians 10:12 - “Not that we dare to classify or compare ourselves with some of those who are commending themselves. But when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding.”

    • Ideas For Not Comparing:

      • Avoid Comparing Ourselves To Anyone Else

      • Celebrate Our Own Spiritual Growth

      • Be Kind To Ourselves, We All Mess Up

  5. Our Feelings Can Cause Us To Be Isolated From The Church

    • Hebrews 10:25 - “not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

    • Ideas For Not Being Alone:

Conclusion:

So today, let’s sit down and really reflect on how we are letting our own personal feelings interfere with our faith and growth for The Kingdom. Are we falling into the devil’s trap by letting our emotions become the main thing in our lives? If we let our emotions lead our faith, then who is our faith really in? Ourselves? Or God? Let us cast aside our emotions that are holding us back from true spiritual growth.
